Living the dream

Past students tell you about their careers

Career Prospects

The professional industry around the world is more demanding than ever before. It expects aspiring performers to have a wide variety of dance and other performance skills.

Technique and artistry must be strong, as must bodies and temperament to withstand the rigorous demands of professional work. Newcomers must be quick learners capable of fitting into demanding schedules. They must also have the confidence and respect for others necessary to work within groups of highly talented people.

Northern Ballet School is dedicated to giving you all these things so that you leave us with the best possible chance of finding work and developing a rewarding career. NBS graduates have joined classical and modern theatre companies and are now gracing stages all over the world.

We'll support you

The public performance experience students get at NBS is an invaluable part of their career preparation. We also help with advice and training on career promotion. This includes CV and portfolio preparation, audition technique and job search planning.

Our contacts can help

NBS has strong industry recruitment links and agency contacts. As a result the vast majority of our graduates obtain good quality dance employment within a short time of completing their training. Many actually receive their contract offers before graduation. NBS graduates automatically enjoy the benefits of provisional Equity membership.

“NBS paved the way to cultivate my skills as a dancer and to fine tune and improve not just my technique but above all my performance on stage. Ultimately the goal is to get a job, and I was able to do so. We were able to get great practice performing for the public, in full shows on a professional level. Housing its own stage and auditorium is an amazing advantage, and practising daily on the stage geared us up for what it would be like later in a professional company.”
