The Dancehouse Theatre is the sister company of Northern Ballet School and a national touring house which has brought a varied and interesting mix of comedy, dance, music and drama to audiences across the North West since 1994. The theatre's auditorium makes up part of the high quality facility NBS provides for its students.
Previously a derelict 750 seat cinema, the auditorium was converted to create The Dancehouse Theatre which was officially opened in 1994 by HRH Princess Margaret. The large flat sprung floor stage lends itself to all forms of dance. The auditorium, which retains its original Art Deco interior, seats 430 in three distinct sections.
Students at Northern Ballet School perform both the annual Ballet and Musical Showcase at The Dancehouse, as well as taking some classes on stage each week. This provides students with valuable experience of performing and working on stage in a professional theatre from the start of their training.
